This auspicious function to celebrate Lions Worldwide Induction Day was organized by Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Pwani to celebrate future of community service through inducting new members during the function. At this function, eight new members were inducted by the Club. The Chief Guest for this function was a prominent businessman and media mogul Mr. Reginald A. Mengi, Chairman of IPP, very well revered for unrivalled humanitarian services. Pwani Club was extremely flattered with the presence of Mr. Mengi at this notable function. The induction ceremony was performed by Vice District Governor, Lion Abdul Majid Khan. Lion Khan stressed the importance of work carried out by Lions throughout the world in serving the less fortunate members of our society. He pledges to the inducted members to work tirelessly and ensure to be actively involved in all club activities. Lion’s Worldwide Induction Day is a qualitative initiative of launching membership drives and public awareness campaigns. The purpose of the gesture is to demonstrate the importance of Lionism in helping and serving the less privileged and unfortunate of the world and to honour the people who will lead Lions into a new century of service. Charter President of Pwani Club, Lion Suresh Gajjar presented a personal award to Lion Shakil Ansari for being one of the most outstanding Presidents of the club and for having the strength and stamina for carrying out enormous activities this Lionistic year. Lion Gajjar, in his speech, exclaimed that ‘Lion Shakil is a Dedicated, Devoted and Determined LION.’ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Fatma Ramadhani Mafumba is an 18 years old Form One student at Lugoba Secondary School and has acute vision problems. This condition developed since two years ago and is worsening day by day. Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Pwani during their SightFirst camp in Makurunge Dispensary on 24th February 2008 screened her and found that she had an acute condition of vision impairment that would ultimately lead her loosing vision completely. The Doctors advised her to immediately report to CCBRT Hospital. We managed to get her examined at CCBRT Hospital on 25th of February 2008. She was referred to Regency Hospital for a CT scan. Dr Kanabar was very helpful and gave a discount of 50% as his support. Her CT scan of the brain indicated no impairment. However her condition was declining according to CCBRT doctor as they failed to diagnose what was wrong in her eye sight. This incapable diagnosis has strengthened our zeal of sending her to India for further medical assistance. Every help you make will assist in our effort to restore vision for a young girl to whom darkness is her daily friend and light is the comfort that she is soliciting from well wishers. All donations should be made to our Club President Lion Shakil Ansari please.
